During this interactive workshop, Joel will explain how to prepare your organization’s staff for the most challenging media interviews. He will cover what opportunities require training and how to convince executives that they need it. Joel will also review what elements ought to be included in the most effective training sessions. About the Speaker
As a multilingual public relations professional with more than 25 years of experience, Joel Staley is an expert in training c-suite executives, government leaders, celebrities, professional athletes and brand spokespersons to deliver effective media interviews, public speeches and sales presentations. His experience includes diverse industries such as travel & tourism, higher education, health care, financial services, legal services, sports and more. He’s trained many executives from the FORTUNE 500 including GE, Accenture, The Walt Disney Company, MTV Networks Latin America, Shell Oil Company, Unilever and Georgia Pacific. Whether reacting to a crisis, making a town hall speech, or delivering the keynote address at a trade show, Joel has helped his clients successfully tell their brand stories in these scenarios and more. He’s prepared his clients for interviews with the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, People magazine, Associated Press, NPR “Marketplace,” CBS News “60 Minutes,” and CNBC “Squawkbox.” Joel also has conducted numerous training sessions in Spanish for global brands such as Dove, State Farm and MTV Networks Latin America. His depth of experience includes having trained the Mexico Secretary of Tourism for a challenging interview with legendary Univision TV network news anchor Jorge Ramos.
During his career, Joel has worked as a PR director for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts managing trade media relations for the U.S., Latin America and Europe. For global public relations firms Edelman and Burson Cohn & Wolf, Joel led a variety of client accounts in corporate communications and crisis communications and was a member of each firm’s elite cadre of trusted media trainers. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in public relations and is a 2016 PRSA Florida Radiance Award winner for crisis communications.
