Join us via Zoom on Wednesday, Jan. 18, for our 2023 State of the Media Journalist Panel moderated by Alia Faraj-Johnson of Alia Strategic Group. Our panel of prominent Florida journalists – Vicki Bradley, Amy Keller, and Jim Rosica – will discuss how PR/comms teams can best connect with the media, how the media landscape has changed (particularly in this new virtual world), how news outlets prioritize coverage, and the importance of relationships between PR/comms professionals and journalists.

About the Panelists
Vicki Bradley / News Director, WTXL ABC 27: Vicki is a news leader with more than a decade of news producing and leadership experience in newsrooms in North Carolina, Georgia, Texas and Florida. Since 2019, Vicki has led the WTXL ABC 27 newsroom in telling stories that impact communities in North Florida and South Georgia. She also works as an adjunct lecturer teaching Personal Branding at the University of Florida. She is a 2007 graduate of Winston-Salem State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. In 2020, she earned a Master of Science degree in Communications from Syracuse University.

Amy Keller / Associate Editor, Florida Trend: As an associate editor for Florida Trend, Amy covers a wide variety of business and legislative topics. She joined Florida Trend in 2005, after more than a decade covering Congress as a reporter for Roll Call newspaper. Her writings have also appeared in Salon, The New Republic and the Atlanta Jewish Times. Amy graduated from The Ohio State University in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Jim Rosica / Editor-in-Chief, City & State Florida: Jim is the Tallahassee-based Editor-in-Chief of City & State Florida. He previously was news director of the Tallahassee Democrat and capital bureau chief for the USA TODAY Network-Florida. Before that, he was senior editor of FloridaPolitics.com and the Tampa Tribune’s statehouse reporter. He earlier covered three legislative sessions in Florida for The Associated Press. Jim graduated from law school in 2009 after spending nearly a decade covering courts for the Democrat, including reporting on the 2000 presidential recount.

About the Moderator
Alia Faraj-Johnson / President & CEO, Alia Strategic Group: Alia is a longtime public relations and public affairs professional with almost 30 years of experience. She specializes in public affairs, legislative initiatives, crisis communications and the media. Prior to founding Alia Strategic Group, she served as the managing director of Hill+Knowlton Strategies’ Florida public affairs practice from 2014 to 2019. She also served as executive vice-president of a Florida-based public relations and public affairs firm from 2007 to 2013. Before that, she served as Governor Jeb Bush’s press secretary and communications director from 2002 to 2007. Alia holds bachelor of science degrees from Florida State University in political science (emphasis on Middle Eastern studies) and psychology.
