Hispanic Marketing with Dr. Sindy Chapa

Understanding how your target audience communicates and receives information is key for any marketer. There can be cultural, language and other subtleties that are imperative to be aware of in order to have a successful campaign. Join the FPRA Capital Chapter on Tuesday, November 16, from 11 a.m. to noon as we welcome Sindy Chapa, Ph.D., associate professor at the Florida State University School of Communication and director of the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communications (HMC) at FSU. She will discuss the nuances to consider when working with Hispanic media and audiences, and the programs available through the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication at FSU.

About Dr. Chapa: With more than 10 years of teaching experience, Dr. Chapa has taught marketing courses in the U.S., Mexico and Chile. She previously worked as an assistant professor and associate director of the Center for the Study of Latino Media & Markets at The School of Journalism & Mass Communication at Texas State University (TSU). While at TSU, Dr. Chapa served as organizing committee co-chair for two Assessing The State of Spanish-Language & Latino-Oriented Media International Conferences. 

Dr. Chapa earned a Ph.D. in international business from the University of Texas-Pan American, an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Texas, and a B.A. in mass media communications with a minor in television and art design from Valle Del Bravo University in Mexico. Her research interests include advertising strategies targeting the Latino communities in the U.S., gender and advertising, political advertising and advergames.
