The 2020 Image Awards: What’s Changed and How to Succeed

  • Location: Hospitality Square, 2nd Floor (The Clock Building at the Corner of Duval & College)
  • Address: 200 W. College Ave., Tallahassee, FL 32301
  • RSVP Deadline: Tuesday, February 18

It’s local Image Award season! FPRA has revamped judging to improve the process and increase objectivity. Come learn how the process has changed and what this means for your entry at an evening workshop led by Image Award-winners from several organizations. Come prepared with your favorite campaigns from the past year in mind. If you have part or your full entry written already, this is a perfect time to get feedback and have your questions answered. Members, students, and non-members are welcome! Dinner will be provided by Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe.

The program will be held on the 2nd floor of Hospitality Square, the “clock building” next to Kleman Plaza, on the corner of Duval St. and College Ave. Parking is available on the street or in the Kleman Plaza garage. Please do not park at the Post Office.

Our local Image Awards ceremony will be in April. The statewide Golden Image Awards competition will begin later in the year, with the winners announced at FPRA Annual Conference in August. A major benefit of participating in our local chapter awards is receiving judges’ feedback and having the chance to refine your entries for the statewide competition.

In order to qualify for an Image Award, some part of the campaign must have taken place between January 1, 2019 and March 1, 2020. Image Award entries can be any one of these categories and must include the following information:

1. Research/Situation Analysis – Summarize how you identified the issue, need or problem; how you developed a PR strategy/product/tool for addressing the issue; and how you identified the target audience. Include any formal and/or informal research methods that helped solve the problem or leverage the opportunity.
2. Objectives – Clearly state the specific, measurable objectives (qualitative and/or quantitative) that this program or tool was designed to achieve.
3. Implementation – Outline the steps used to achieve the stated objectives.
4. Evaluation – Explain how the success of the program or tool was measured. Report how well it achieved its objectives.
5. Budget – Explain the financial outlay required for development, implementation and evaluation of this program or tool. Reporting staff time agency/corporation/nonprofit/government should be expressed in a total dollar amount for the entire number of hours. Hourly rates, salaries or total number of hours are not necessary. Explain how these expenses relate to the project’s success.
