Creativity with Purpose: How Nipa Blends Art, Storytelling, and Strategy

Current Role: Digital Creative Director, RKD Group
FPRA Member Since: 2021

Meet Nipa Thakkar Eason, a creative storyteller, digital designer, and muralist who transforms ideas into captivating visual narratives. After growing up in Chicago, Phoenix, Tucson, and Los Angeles, Nipa has called Tallahassee home for the past 11 years. As digital creative director at RKD Group, she blends artistry and strategy to help brands tell their stories in meaningful ways. When she’s not leading creative projects, you might find her painting murals, designing wedding stationery, or winding down with her daughter and a good episode of Parks & Recreation.

We asked Nipa how she stays inspired and connected in the communications field.

Why FPRA?
“I joined FPRA because the people here are some of the kindest I’ve met in Florida. I know I can always count on support, mentorship, advice, and a group to vent to (if needed).”

What are your go-to resources for staying current in the industry?
“Surprisingly, I’ve been really focused on non-communication-related podcasts. I listen to The Culture Study Podcast with Anne Helen Petersen, and most of the topics she covers, however indirectly, relate to how we communicate, including algorithm-speak for Gen Z. I also listen to Normal Gossip, which is so fun and a great way to learn how to tell compelling stories even when you can’t share all the information.”

What advice would you give to someone starting in communications?
“Learn to listen. So much of our work is client-focused, and we really have to learn to hear what the client is saying—and what they’re not. Part of our job is to make our clients feel seen and heard in what we deliver. Listening is a skill that can be learned and practiced, and I think it sometimes gets lost in our rush to prove our value.”
