Description

The Florida Department of Health, one of the largest health departments in the nation, is seeking a full-time press secretary to serve as the department’s spokesperson. This position oversees the writing, distribution and corresponding coverage of press releases, newsletters, fact sheets and other reports that are distributed internally and externally. The press secretary works with 67 county health departments and all DOH offices to develop and coordinate messaging. This position also assists with crisis situation responses (hurricanes, tornadoes, outbreaks, etc.).
Must have experience working with reporters, strong writing skills, bachelor’s degree, at least 5 years experience and ability to hold media training’s for high level officials. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.

This position will directly and indirectly supervise other communications staff at the direction of the Communications Director and will assist the Surgeon General as needed.
