Description

The Florida Department of Transportation’s Office of Communications manages proactive and reactive media relations as well as various statewide awareness campaigns, the department’s website, and its brand. The Office of Communications is seeking a Communications Coordinator to assist with the daily assignments and projects.

The position is paid hourly ($12.00 – $15.00 per hour) and the schedule can be modified for current public relations/communications college students with the appropriate experience.

Assisting with daily duties and functions of the office.
News monitoring and compiling daily news clips; and
Compiling reports.

Helping implement and manage communication initiatives that promote agency goals and priorities.
Drafting press releases and other various writing assignments;
Updating the department’s webpage;
Research; and
Assisting with internal outreach efforts.

Other administrative tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and use of Associated Press Style and proper use of grammar and punctuation; Skilled in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook; Ability to create content, reports, and newsletters for the general public’s understanding; Knowledge and use of emerging communication channels, including social media; Highly motivated; Self-starter; Strong writing and editing skills; Strong interpersonal skills; The ability to multi-task; and Professional and dependable.
