The Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Florida) seeks an energetic communications and public relations expert to oversee all aspects of communications and public relations including email newsletters, quarterly magazine and executing a social media strategy. This is a highly responsible position including writing, compiling and distributing newsletters and other communications including legislative issue briefs, calls to action and updates. Successful applicant will work with an editorial committee, freelance writer, graphic designer and publisher to produce a quarterly magazine with a circulation of about 4,000. A background in journalism is a plus. Incumbent will be responsible for managing and executing annual awards program. Will work with contracted video production agency to schedule and produce legislative and promotional videos as needed.
Excellent writing skills a must. Graphic design skills preferred and knowledge of InDesign required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Background in association management, public relations and basic understanding of the legislative process preferred. Must be detail-oriented, work efficiently with deadlines and possess strong project management skills. Must be able to work independently using critical thinking skills and exhibiting sound judgment. This position is responsible for all written and print communication for a statewide association of about 4,100 members. Position requires travel. This is not a remote position and is full-time in the office.
