CapChap Holiday Community Service Project

The Capital Chapter is excited to announce that we will spread holiday cheer this year to some local veterans through our holiday community service project. Members are invited to support residents of the Tallahassee Veterans’ Village by bringing donated household items to the November 21st meeting and/or the December Social.

The Veterans’ Village is a two-year transitional housing program for men and women from all branches of service who need and want to rebuild their lives as part of the Tallahassee community. Owned and operated by Volunteers of America of Florida, the Village provides a variety of services including housing, health, training, education, counseling and employment.

According to TVV coordinator Shawn Noles, residents need “anything you use day-to-day and don’t even think about it — like laundry detergent or even toothpaste.” Here are some other suggested “gifts” for the residents of Veterans Village:

  • Full size sheets
  • Full size blankets/comforters
  • Bed pillows
  • Dishes
  • Cookware
  • Toiletries: soap, toothpaste & toothbrushes, deodorant
  • Towels and Washcloths
  • Kitchen linens
  • Laundry detergent
  • Household cleaning products

We look forward to making this a special holiday season for these veterans. Please don’t forget to bring your donations to the November luncheon and the December holiday social!
