The Gathering of the Solos

The Gathering of the Solos is a curated affinity group for independent public relations and communications practitioners, consultants, and small-business owners who have chosen to build their own practices. This group exists to provide a trusted space for connection, collaboration, and candid conversation among peers who understand the unique rewards and challenges of working independently.

Meetings are intentionally informal and built around real-world needs: exchanging ideas, troubleshooting challenges, sharing best practices, and offering support grounded in experience. From client management and business development to pricing, capacity, and work-life balance, this group is designed to foster both practical guidance and professional camaraderie.

To preserve trust and openness, participation is guided by a simple principle: what is shared in the group stays in the group.

Meetings occur throughout the year, with dates, times, and locations determined collaboratively through member polling.

This group is open to FPRA Capital Chapter members and students.

Marketing Meetups

The Marketing Meetup is a relaxed, no-cost gathering designed for marketing professionals at every stage of their careers. Whether you specialize in email marketing, social media, content strategy, analytics, brand management, or another discipline, this group offers a space to connect with peers who understand the evolving challenges and opportunities in the field.

There is no formal agenda, just an open conversation, shared experiences, and practical insights. Participants are encouraged to bring ideas, questions, and perspectives on current trends, emerging tools, and real-world challenges. The goal is simple: to create an inclusive environment where marketers can learn from one another and walk away with fresh thinking and renewed energy.

This group is open to FPRA Capital Chapter members, non-members, and students.

Higher-Ed Learning Community

The Higher-Ed Learning Community is a newly established affinity group created for communications, marketing, and public relations professionals working within higher education. Designed as a specialized peer network, this group brings together professionals across institutions and career stages to share insights, strengthen practices, and address the unique dynamics of higher-ed communications.

Members will have the opportunity to engage in peer-to-peer learning focused on higher-education-specific challenges, including enrollment communications, institutional branding, crisis response, stakeholder engagement, and internal communications within academic environments. The group also aims to serve as a space for professional development and shared problem-solving tailored specifically to the higher-ed landscape.

This group is open to FPRA Capital Chapter members and non-members who work in the higher education industry. Agencies, consultants and vendors are not eligible to participate as members of the group, but may participate as speakers, event sponsors or panelists based on the needs of the group.

This group is open only to FPRA Capital Chapter members.

FPRA Statewide Groups

The Counselors’ Network, through the Florida Public Relations Association, gives senior-level public relations counselors and practitioners an opportunity for professional enrichment and continuing education with their peers. Each January, the Counselors’ Network also hosts the CN Winter Symposium, a two-day conference for senior practitioners with at least 10 years of experience.

For all members, FPRA is also in the process of launching FPRA Circles, a new virtual member community benefit connecting professionals across Florida who share a common role, industry, or interest. Each Circle is facilitated by a volunteer member and meets virtually to foster conversation, peer support, and shared learning beyond the local chapter level.

Circles launching this year include Healthcare, Solo Practitioners, and LGBTQ+ & Allies, with additional Circles in development for Government/Public Affairs, Emerging Leaders, Senior Leaders, Not-for-Profit, and Marketing and Advertising. This program is open to FPRA members statewide.
