The City of Tallahassee’s Communications Department, responsible for informing and engaging citizens, is hiring a web developer. This technical and professional position includes web development work designing, developing, implementing and maintaining the City’s award winning website Talgov.com for internal and external users. The incumbent works closely with project managers, other technical staff and functional representatives of City departments to assist them in creating effective web solutions. Work is performed under the supervision of the Marketing and Public Information Manager and is reviewed for achievement of desired results through regular status meetings and written reports. The ideal candidate will also have graphic design and social media experience.

Salary: $17.26/hour – $39.60/hour (Hiring rate will generally not exceed $29.47/hour)

Qualifications

Minimum Training and Experience
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, human-computer interaction, graphic arts, communications, public relations or a related field and 1 year of technical experience in design and development of web sites, web pages and web applications; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preference will be given to applicants with a combination of analytical and coding skills, graphic design skills and public relations skills. Desired skills include web application development such as C#, Java, VB.NET, HTML, BEA Web-logic, Content Management Systems or comparable web development skills and also graphic design with the ability to prepare finished copy and camera-ready art, computer generated presentation quality graphics for the web, exhibits, visual aids, brochures, displays, vehicles and advertisements

Necessary Special Requirements
Designated positions assigned to this class may require a valid Class E State driver’s license at the time of appointment.
