POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking a high energy, self-motivated, organized individual to work as the Social Media Manager, responsible for managing the statewide social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube) for all areas of DEP, including Florida State Parks. This position will be responsible for strategic planning, drafting, collaborating, editing, scheduling, researching, engaging, tracking and analyzing for the existing social media properties including managing posts, responding to followers and leveraging analytics data to determine the best content for posts and preparing reports to show increased engagement.

This position requires the ability to apply professional experience with strategic communication efforts through strong team relationships, as well as independent work, with little supervision. In addition, the position requires staying up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications and performing research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences for the highest performance possible.

Qualifications

Knowledge of: social media networking; multimedia practices; AP style writing; the principles and techniques of effective communication; administrative principles and practices; office procedures and practices. Ability to: take the lead on assignments and responsibilities; create and meet deadlines; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; work well with others and individually; maintain a positive, can-do attitude; produce timely and effective results; provide quality solutions; apply problem solving techniques; document work flow and other activities relating to process improvement; use computer software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook and Meltwater; collect, evaluate and analyze data; research, draft, write, edit and format various documents; work independently; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; lift up to 25 pounds; and maintain a valid driver’s license.
