Meg Fingert Public Relations, a local PR firm serving the endurance sports industry, is looking for an upbeat and motivated intern to join the team. This intern will have a chance to witness the ins and outs of a position in public relations, with a focus in helping exciting clients to create content and compile analytics for their social media accounts.

This intern will also have a chance to gain experience in media relations, expert positioning, crisis communications, new business development, and branding. MFPR will serve as the “client” for this part of the internship, providing an opportunity to learn in a low-risk and highly creative space. Often, PR firms focus so much on their clients that they forget to promote themselves. This intern will fill this vital need for our business.

MFPR focuses on clients in endurance sports. While being an endurance athlete is not required, loving running, cycling or fitness is highly encouraged for those applying.

Qualifications

This intern will be responsible for the following:
Providing administrative support in creating reports, answering correspondence, setting meeting times and details, and updating the MFPR website
Creating social media content for choice MFPR clients on a bi-weekly basis
Pulling monthly analytics data for choice MFPR clients social media accounts (no expertise in stats or math required, software provided, calculator on your phone encouraged)
Brainstorming, planning and executing PR strategies for MFPR as a brand including press release writing, media pitching, and award application filing
Creating social media content for MFPR’s accounts
Pulling month analytics data for MFPR

This intern will have an opportunity to experience:
Writing press releases, media alerts, pitches and other PR toolbox documents
Contacting the press for follow ups
Creating dynamic social media content and watching it help clients grow
Understanding how a strategic PR plan is created and implemented
Experiencing client interactions and learning the art of account services
Understanding social media analytics and what they mean for our clients
Witnessing the pace of a small shop PR firm
Mentorship from a PR professional who has worked in firms, in-house at corporations and is now a small business owner
Attending PR professional organization luncheons and workshops
Learning how to use Cision, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, dapulse and other popular software
Understanding the needs of and hot topics in the endurance sports industry

This internship can begin as soon as the interested party would like and has a negotiable duration, but can be concluded by MFPR at any time.

This internship would require 4-5 hours of work per week, does not require travel and is unpaid, but could be completed for college credit.

This internship will be located in Tallahassee, FL near campus. Those applying should be working towards their undergraduate degree or have just graduated. They should have completed some coursework in communications during their undergraduate studies so far, or have a bachelors degree in communications, public relations, journalism or another related field.
