Description

This position is responsible for graphic design and creative direction for Leon County. Work involves designing marketing material from handheld printed material to vinyl billboard display to digital advertisements, accomplished through various communication methods that include public awareness, community outreach, and media relations.

Manages applications and qualities of Leon County’s visual brand to promote consistency throughout the community. Designs and creates all Leon County collateral used to promote County programs, initiatives, and special events. Examples of projects include logo design, print production (brochures, handouts, and reports), digital and online advertisement design, as well as exterior and interior signage across County buildings and facilities. Additionally, effective advertising on social media–both in the technical and creative sense–is a must. Photographs County events and performs limited post-processing edits. Familiarity with Photoshop tools expected. Coordinates with local print and design vendors to meet deadlines and expectations of County leadership. Also, the position must be able to work with other offsite vendors on joint projects. Oversees all print advertisements in local and regional newspapers, magazines, and other trade publications. In addition, the position must maintain the graphic design consistency on the County’s television and web streaming services by creating graphics and programming as needed.

Qualifications

Education: A bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, communications, graphic design or related field(s); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Experience: Two years of experience in graphic design, public or employee relations, public information, advertising, marketing, mass communications, or any related area(s) is preferred.
