The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) Office of Community Relations (CRO) seeks a highly motivated candidate to serve as the Press Secretary to help further the agency’s mission. The Office of Community Relations coordinates the public communication efforts of FWC’s divisions and offices to educate Floridians and visitors about the role and value of Florida’s fish and wildlife resources and foster a sense of stewardship.

The FWC is populated by people who are passionate about what they do and strongly desire to help Florida’s residents and visitors while balancing the needs of the state’s fish and wildlife resources.

The successful candidate for the Press Secretary position will be proactive and passionate about the agency’s success and the public’s perception of the agency.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of professional experience in communications, public/media relations, and writing in a professional setting.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Management or team lead experience.
  • Ability to work in a confidential environment.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends on occasion in response to high-profile incidents.
  • Ability to operate well under pressure, manage multiple projects and work positively in a team environment.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
