Southern Shakespeare Company is seeking a creative, dedicated part-time communications and marketing professional to join our dynamic team of artists and theater-makers.

The Communications Director manages digital communication and marketing efforts, as well as regional and national audience development initiatives. This position plans and coordinates social media and display advertising; is responsible for developing, measuring, and reporting performance of all digital marketing campaigns; provides direct interaction with members of the community; and seeks collaborative marketing initiatives with partner organizations.

Working with the Executive Director, the Communication Director shall assist in incorporating a unified, comprehensive vision and branding program for the company. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Website and Social Media Platforms

The Communication Director is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and engagement growth of the social media accounts and website of the Southern Shakespeare Company (SSC). This includes:

  • Developing content, both graphic and written, to promote SSC and its various programs and productions on all SSC social media platforms
  • Identifying strategies of stimulating reputation and engagement across all digital platforms
  • Developing the organization’s digital media capability
  • Providing analytics on social media platform performance and website engagement
  • Working with the graphic designer to regularly update content and recommend design changes to the SSC website
  • Providing timely communication responses to those who engage with SSC social media platforms
  • Adherence to Company’s purchasing policies
  • Marketing, Branding, and General Programs Assistance

The Communication Director collaborates with organization management to develop multi-media marketing campaigns for all SSC events and programs; ensures digital content maintains alignment with SSC’s mission and branding, and provides general programmatic assistance as needed. This includes:

  • Developing media strategy for events and programs to compliment outreach efforts
  • Tracking marketing budget for events and programs
  • Researching industry developments in methods of digital interaction and engagement
  • Oversees the development and management of data sources including media tracking, email addresses and marketing analytics
  • Writing copy for press releases, monthly e-newsletters, and e-blasts
  • Coordinating content, layout and design of monthly e-newsletter with graphic designer
  • Providing statistics and narratives pertinent to marketing initiatives and digital media for grant proposals and reports
  • Serve as primary liaison between SSC staff and the graphic design team

Miscellaneous

  • All SSC staff members are expected to be present and are assigned responsibilities all four days of the Free Festival event
  • All SSC staff members are expected to assist during Festival load-in and load-out dates

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Florida’s background screening program
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field
  • 2 years experience in field of public relations, media development or related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Shakespeare/theatrical arts
