The Department of Management Services (DMS) is a customer-oriented agency responsible for managing various business-related functions throughout state government. Under the direction of Florida Governor Rick Scott and the executive leadership team at DMS, the agency oversees the real estate, procurement, human resources, group insurance, retirement, telecommunications, private prisons, and fleet and federal property assistance programs utilized throughout Florida’s state government. The Department of Management Services is relied upon to establish, maintain and improve the business processes used by state employees in doing their jobs to serve our Floridians. Department of Management Services staff facilitates the delivery of these programs and services and provides tools and training to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of the state’s workforce. Position Summary:
The Department of Management Services is seeking a highly-motivated and polished communications professional to work with DMS’ Division of Telecommunications, Bureau of Public Safety on the FirstNet project. FirstNet is a national data communications project designed specifically for first responders throughout the country. FirstNet will provide a single interoperable platform for emergency and daily public safety communications. FloridaNet is a multi-year program designed to provide a framework for Florida’s first responders to work with FirstNet in the design efforts for the nation’s first public safety broadband network. This is a unique opportunity to assist Florida’s public safety communities in preparing for and implementing this long awaited capability. The individual assigned to this position will regularly interact with state and local public officials, and executives in both the public and private sector in preparation of upcoming milestones and decision points. Position responsibilities:
•Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with various members of the public safety community across Florida.
•Coordinate meetings between private and public stakeholders.
•Monitor and manage online communications with a variety of interested parties and stakeholders via an established FloridaNet email.
•Keep interested parties and stakeholders updated on pertinent FloridaNet activities.
•Coordinate, plan, and manage all aspects of FloridaNet board and FloridaNet committee meetings, including: •timely publishing meeting notices and meeting minutes;
•assisting with travel arrangements and reimbursements for board members; and
•producing and organizing meeting materials, agendas, and presentations.
•Monitor social medial and news reporting activities on the state and federal level and update FloridaNet website content as appropriate.
•Monitor and manage FloridaNet’s social media activity, including website maintenance.
•Manage FloridaNet’s press releases.
•Research and timely report on other state’s FirstNet activities.
•Assist with managing FirstNet federal grant monies.
•Serve as the FloridaNet historian by identifying and preserving pertinent documents.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public administration, marketing, or a related field. Professional experience in the responsibilities described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Professional experience maintaining a public website.
•Professional experience supporting a public board of directors.
•Professional experience in event planning.
•Professional experience in communicating with executive-level stakeholders.
