Description
This Assistant Director of Communications assists the Communications Director in all aspects of law school communications. Responsible for the overall direction and development of the College of Law web site content, including meeting with department heads, faculty members, and students regularly to discuss their needs for web content, and making recommendations for improving existing content. Ensures that web content is current and grammatically correct and that messaging is concise and consistent throughout the site and with the overall branding of the law school. Responsible for updating the site to include current events and achievements and using Adobe Creative Suite programs to design various electronic and print communications.
Assists with writing and editing a wide variety of communications vehicles, including web site content, press releases, brochures, magazine articles, and other promotional materials. Responsible for the College of Law’s social media presence and ensures that Facebook, Twitter, and other social media pages are updated regularly and are consistent with the law school’s messaging and branding efforts.
Responsible for taking photographs and/or arranging photographers for law school events, including minimal weekend and evening hours to cover some events. Also responsible for using Adobe Creative Suite programs to manipulate photos for use on the web site and in publications.
Pay Plan: This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
Background Check Requirements: This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
Confidentiality Policy: This position requires compliance with University confidentiality policies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience directly related to the responsibilities of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience directly related to the responsibilities of this position. (Note: post-high school education/experience can substitute at the comparable rate.)
Applicants must have experience using Microsoft Word and Outlook or comparable software, Adobe Creative Suite or similar software, and possess basic familiarity with HTML. Excellent writing skills, to include experience writing, editing, and proofreading for the web, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently, are essential.
Experience and/or skills in photography, photo manipulation, HTML, Flash, Adobe Creative Suite, and Dreamweaver are preferred.
