Description
This is an independent professional position reporting to Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) Communications Administrator. The position is responsible for marketing initiatives, internal and external communications, social media management, and public relations efforts on behalf of DJJ to enhance and promote public understanding of our agency.
Develop and implement communications and marketing plans that promote DJJ’s initiatives and enhances public understanding of the mission, goals, priorities and operations. This includes planning and executing marketing and awareness campaigns to reach targeted audiences through various channels (social media, e-mail, website, etc.). Analyze and evaluate effectiveness of marketing campaigns and provide feedback for future projects.
Develop and implement social media plan and manage social media accounts on behalf of the agency. Works with the Director of Communications and the Deputy Communications Director to create content and social media strategies for DJJ’s social media accounts. Social media content will include messaging, graphics, and other materials that will help to educate and promote the work of agency and our various initiatives.
Prepare media advisories, news releases, talking points, reports, and other documents and correspondence. This includes planning and developing the agency’s weekly newsletter and coordinating with the agency’s program areas and various offices, as well as our community partners and contracted providers, for content in the weekly newsletter.
Collaborate with DJJ staff to promote DJJ’s mission, goals, priorities, and operations which includes working with the different agency program areas in creating marketing materials, flyers, and social media content to promote events and highlight the work of our agency.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have three years of marketing and/or communications experience.
Professional or non-professional experience can substitute for college or years of experience.
Preference will be given to those that have earned a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field.
