The Department of Management Services (DMS) is a customer-oriented agency responsible for managing various business-related functions throughout state government. Under the direction of Florida Governor Rick Scott and the executive leadership team at DMS, the agency oversees the real estate, procurement, human resources, group insurance, retirement, telecommunications, private prisons, and fleet and federal property assistance programs utilized throughout Florida’s state government. The Department of Management Services is relied upon to establish, maintain and improve the business processes used by state employees in doing their jobs to serve our Floridians. Department of Management Services staff facilitates the delivery of these programs and services and provides tools and training to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of the state’s workforce. It is amidst this backdrop that the Florida Department of Management Services strives to achieve its motto, “We serve those who serve Florida.” Under the leadership of DMS Secretary Chad Poppell, DMS employees strive to embody four pillars on a daily basis: establishing a process-oriented mindset; challenging the status quo; creating efficiencies; and respecting state employees.

Position responsibilities:

The Office of Supplier Diversity is seeking a Marketing Assistant to help with the following:
•Coordinate marketing efforts with the Marketing Manager that promotes the services and events offered by the Office of Supplier Diversity.
•Coordinate collaborative opportunities with state agencies and various interest groups on behalf of the Office of Supplier Diversity Executive Director.
•Provide guidance and information related to the Office of Supplier Diversity’s programs, services and activities to state agency and other procurement professionals as well as minority business interest groups and community organizations.
•Respond to inquiries and requests for service from state agency purchasing professionals as well as minority business interest groups and community organizations.
•Facilitate training and educational opportunities with and among state agencies and interest groups statewide in order to spread in-depth understanding of the Office of Supplier Diversity’s programs and services.
•Develop and coordinate production of training materials such as manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational resources designed to educate agency and other purchasing professionals about effectively engaging certified business enterprises in procurement activity.
•Promote new agency procurement opportunities and publicize those opportunities among certified vendors.
•Promote new certified businesses among state agency procurement professionals and other interested groups.
•Identify and act upon collaborative opportunities with minority business interest groups and organizations statewide.
•Coordinate the activities and recommendations of the Florida Advisory Council on Small and Minority Business Development, including meeting minutes, agenda preparation and scheduling meetings.
•Assist state agencies in participating in the Office of Supplier Diversity’s annual data and reporting requirements for the Business Participation Plan.
•Facilitate and coordinate all aspects of the Diversity Working Group meetings and activities.
