The market research analyst is an independent professional position reporting to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) Communications Director. The position is responsible for marketing initiatives, internal and external communications, social media management, and public relations efforts on behalf of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice to enhance and promote public understanding of our agency.

evelop and implement communications and marketing plans that promote Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ’s) initiatives and enhances public understanding of DJJs mission, goals, priorities, and operations. This includes planning and executing marketing and awareness campaigns to reach targeted audiences through various channels (social media, e-mail, website, etc.). Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and provide feedback for future projects.

Develop and implement social media plans and manage social media accounts on behalf of the agency. This position will work with the director of communications and the deputy communications director as needed to create content and social media strategies for DJJ’s social media accounts. Social media content will include writing social media posts, designing graphics, and other materials that will help to educate and promote the work of DJJ and our various initiatives.

Prepare media advisories, news releases, talking points, reports, and other documents and correspondence. This includes planning and developing the agency’s newsletter and coordinating with the agency’s program areas and various offices, as well as our community partners and contracted providers, for content to include in the agency newsletter.

Collaborate with DJJ staff to promote DJJ’s mission, goals, priorities, and operations. This includes working with DJJ’s program areas in creating marketing materials, flyers, and social media content to promote events and highlight the work of our agency. This position is responsible for ensuring all materials adhere to the agency’s branding guidelines to maintain a consistent and professional appearance.

Qualifications

Highly knowledgeable in strategies and tactics to communicate DJJ’s mission, goals, priorities, and operations.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise written work with little or no supervision or editing under deadline pressure.

Highly knowledgeable of the rules of grammar, style, and punctuation.

Highly proficient in the development and use of social media on DJJ’s behalf and social media analytics.

Highly detailed oriented, able to take initiative, and be a self-starter.

Ability to work independently while handling and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously.

Knowledge of federal and state (e.g. Chapter 119, Florida Statutes) laws, rules, and regulations governing the public release of information and records and the ability to work with DJJ legal staff and others to resolve questions or issues about such laws, rules, and regulations.

Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and attitude.

Must be proficient in using Canva and all office software and programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe). Understanding of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is also preferred.

Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.

PREFERRED MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

One to three years of marketing and/or communications experience.

A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.

Professional or non-professional experience can substitute for college or years of experience.

Preference will be given to those who have earned a degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
