Description
This high-profile position has overall responsibility for the organization, management, and implementation of all facets of the annual Class Program, Connect Florida and Connect Florida Institute, and programming for the Florida League of Mayors, and additional LF programs and projects, as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Works with the president, program chairs and committee volunteers in the initiation, recruitment, development, organization, implementation and follow-through of leadership development and training programs,
- Evaluates and enhances the curriculum to increase value to participants and meet goals and objectives of organization,
- Develops a recruitment plan including identification of potential participants, recruitment events, etc. in order to meet class size and quality goals,
- Engages members as volunteers for program committees,
- Organizes planning meetings and participates in securing resources, arranging logistics, and executing program days,
- Works with president and chief of operations to secure program sponsorships and in-kind donations,
- Prepares timely and clear communications to all participants of logistics of all days, materials and preparation needed, etc.,
- Prepares all materials for participants and class chairs including class rosters, agendas and contact lists, etc.,
- Arranges and coordinates all program-related activities and agendas, mailing, transportation, meals, supplies, etc.,
- Prepares all written program communications and documentation as needed,
- Prepares press releases, and e-cast articles regarding programs,
- Posts program info, photos to social media sites to connect and engage members and increase awareness of LF,
- Maintains necessary records, budgets and documentation for all programs,
- Monitors all program-related photographs posted to the website and saved on the shared drive,
- Works cooperatively and maintains a positive rapport with LF staff, program participants, board members and volunteers.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements:
To be successful in the role, the Director must possess a wide array of executive leadership and communication skills to deal effectively with key constituencies with whom he/she works, particularly class members, board and committee members, sponsors, key Florida leaders, guest speakers, and colleagues. The job requires both technical and leadership competencies, including:
- Knowledge of Florida, its leaders, institutions, trends and issues,
- Experience in the non-profit sector,
- Well-honed leadership and interpersonal skills,
- Excellent communications skills, including writing, public speaking, and facilitation,
- Financial management expertise in order to successfully develop and manage program budgets,
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks,
- Technical capabilities, including Word and Excel,
- Ability to work in a highly-collaborative environment,
- Event planning experience,
- Physical requirements include sitting, reaching, light lifting, operating keyboard, ability to see and speak,
- Must drive and have a car available to attend meetings, other program events and community events,
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
Working Conditions:
- Typical work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday,
- Frequent evening/weekend work required, and
- Frequent overnight travel.
