Director of Public Relations

Description

The position is responsible for promoting the office of the Leon County Property Appraiser. This includes strengthening relationships within the community through public relations, marketing activities, written materials, social media, and public awareness programs. The employee is the head of an organizational unit and is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the department. This includes recommending personnel, budget, expenditures, and making policy decisions in their areas of responsibility. This position requires close coordination and communication with management and the Property Appraiser.

The employee also conducts or facilitates public speaking engagements, performs demonstrations, and provides training to property owners, community organizations, and neighborhood associations to ensure public awareness of the programs and benefits available. The employee must have a strong understanding of office policies and work processes, including budgeting and human resources, and must evaluate situations, apply policies appropriately, and establish short and long-range programs and goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and five years of experience in marketing, administration, public relations, or related field. Additional experience will be considered in place of education on a 2:1 basis. (Two years of experience equals one year of education.)
