Candidates for the position of Digital Strategist should be able to demonstrate an understanding of public policy from a free-market perspective, with special emphasis on the issues facing the state of Florida. Candidates must be energetic in promoting the goals and views of The James Madison Institute (JMI) with a view to reaching new audiences through social media platforms and the management of multiple points of data.

The Digital Strategist is responsible for assisting the Vice President of Communications with meeting the day-to-day communications needs of JMI. This position will:

– Assist in the writing for JMI marketing materials such as the JMI Messenger
– Maintain and update media outreach lists
– Help draft and execute the new communications department strategic plan
– Helps advance the placement of JMI’s ideas and scholars through online presence management including:
* Maintaining and frequently updating JMI’s various social media platforms
* Maintaining and frequently updating the JMI website
* Assisting with weekly email outreach to membership
* Assisting with the marketing of JMI events
* Monitoring and compiling all media mentions of JMI

– Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field
– Ability to work 40 hours per week
– Strong writing ability
– Impeccable attention to detail
– Experience maintaining social media platforms
– Ability to multitask
– Familiarity with the Microsoft Office software suite
– Graphic design experience not necessary, but preferred
