The incumbent is the liaison between the DEP Florida Coastal Office and the DEP Press Office, and is responsible for assisting and/or managing participation in various collaborations and partnerships, such as the Gulf of Mexico Alliance, South Atlantic Alliance, Caribbean Regional Ocean Partnership, Coastal States Organization, US Coral Reef Task Force, Florida Institute of Oceanography, Florida Sea Grant, academic and research institutions, and with citizen support organizations, as well developing new relationships important to the Florida Coastal Office mission.

In close cooperation with the DEP Florida Coastal Office regional communications team and the DEP Press Office, this position guides development of the weekly Executive Office of the Governor report, press releases, announcements, social media, monthly look ahead’s, Coastal Currents publication, and assists in the resolution of correspondence control items. This position provides leadership for statewide media relations, marketing, and public interaction – including speaking events, outreach materials, public meetings, hosting and facilitating meetings, and providing site tours through the regional contacts.

This position may have supervisory duties of one position and fellows/interns who oversee related activities such as ecotourism outreach, planning documents, and interaction with citizen support organizations. The incumbent meets weekly with the Director, conducts regular statewide office communications teleconferences, participates in partner and DEP Press Office meetings, and performs other duties as assigned by the Director. This position requires travel as assigned, usually not exceeding 2-3 days a month.
