United Way of the Big Bend (UWBB) is seeking a Communications Manager who will be responsible for providing assistance to the VP of Philanthropy & Communications (VPPC) in the overall marketing, communications and public relations functions of UWBB. This position will specifically support the Philanthropy, Community Impact, Special Events and overall organization promotional efforts in a manner that helps increase visibility and drive the mission, vision and goals of UWBB.

UWBB serves eight counties in the Big Bend area with the mission to raise awareness, mobilize resources and find collaborative, targeted solutions for our community’s most vital concerns. We lead the communities we serve by engaging and connecting with others who share our commitment to help our neighbors, friends and colleagues who are living in poverty and/or struggling to make ends meet.

Schedule: Full-time Location: Tallahassee, FL

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with VPPC on management and execution of a year-round communications plan
  • Provide marketing and communications support for philanthropy, community impact initiatives, special events and overall organization
  • Assist with development and design of marketing collateral tools and print materials for all UWBB departments
  • Attend key events to provide communications support and assist with other duties as necessary
  • Propose and help implement new ideas to spread awareness and increase engagement
  • Draft and edit communications copy, marketing collateral and news releases
  • Execute UWBB social media and digital marketing strategies
  • Manage social media presence, create content and communications on various platforms
  • Elevate digital marketing efforts as part of overall plan to promote UWBB
  • Monitor, collect and assess social media data analytics
  • Assist VPPC with management of media relations
  • Design, write, edit and coordinate distribution of e-newsletters and other e-communications
  • Contribute to ideation focused on marketing and communications strategies
  • Prepare formal presentations and reports for various events and meetings
  • Follow and monitor compliance with branding guidelines

Qualifications

Applicants should:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be proficient in MS Office Suite; working knowledge of WordPress and Adobe Suite products a plus
  • Be proficient in use of Meta Business Suite: Facebook/Instagram; LinkedIn, X, and YouTube
  • Show strong attention to detail
  • Have a heart for mission-based work
  • Work well both independently and as a member of a team
  • Be able to multi-task and enjoy a fast-paced work environment

Education, Experience and Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field
  • Previous marketing and/or communications experience preferred
  • Experience with digital marketing and extensive knowledge of various social media platforms
  • Experience with web design
  • Video production and editing experience a plus

  • Professional office setting – in-office position
  • Occasional travel within UWBB neighboring county footprint
  • Work Week: M-R 8:30 a.m.– 5:30 p.m., F 8:30 am-12:00 pm with some early morning, evening and weekend hours during peak times
  • Physical demands: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time, bending, occasional lifting, regularly moving throughout the building between floors
  • Regular use of standard office equipment
