Overview
The Florida Amendment 2 ballot initiative campaign seeks a Communications Intern based in Tallahassee, Florida. The Communications Intern is responsible for directly assisting the Communications Director in building a statewide communications strategy to ensure passage of Amendment 2. This position requires a general understanding of and interest in Florida statewide politics and government.

Position and Responsibilities
The Communications Intern is employed by Amendment 2 and reports to the Campaign Manager and Communications Director. This is a part-time, paid hourly position through Election Day, November 6, 2018. The Communications Intern should expect to work set hours. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze and report on social media activity
• Assisting with Social media management
• Respond in a timely manner to posts or comments and bring value to the social interaction in a manner that invites engagement in a positive forum
• Maintaining the archive of digital images, videos, and other content
• Reach out to the community and promote events, programs, speaking engagements, and new information about the campaign
• Research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content relevant to the campaign for posting that invites conversation and interaction
• Identifying potentially damaging messaging across social media and work with the campaign team to craft appropriate, high-impact responses
• Patrolling social media for mentions of the candidate and campaign
• Expanding the campaigns reach by building a robust following on social media and building a community of online constituents by providing an open, responsive channel of communication with voters
• Speech, op-ed and general writing
• Event planning
• Assistance with brand marketing
• Administrative tasks and weekly reporting
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Interested candidates of all parties, ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with the following skills and qualifications preferred:

• Interest or experience in local/state government
• Willingness to work with bi-partisan organizations and groups
• Professional demeanor and comfort in social situations
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and goals
• Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration
• Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft applications
• Familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms
• Available to work 15 hours per week
• This is a part-time internship and we require that you bring your own computer to complete projects and tasks
