KCCI (Knight Creative Communities Institute) contributes to the economic development of the Tallahassee area by organizing community volunteers to execute projects that enhance the area’s “sense of place.” KCCI’s placemaking initiatives create enjoyable gathering spaces that bring people together. Catalyst teams research, plan, organize, fundraise and collaborate with like-minded businesses, organizations and government entities to bring these spaces to life. Examples of KCCI-led placemaking projects include:
● The Capital City Amphitheater at Cascades Park
● The porch swings surrounding Lake Ella
● Discovery Playscape at Cascades Park
● The iconic TLH statue located on the Capital Cascades Trail
● The Frenchtown Farmer’s Market

Communications Internship Description:
• Summer and/or fall
• Paid internship: $150 monthly stipend
• Assist Executive Director with social media activities such as content calendar creation
and social media initiatives
• Special event planning and implementation
• Coordinate community outreach
• Develop and maintain fundraising and/or public relations campaigns

Qualifications

• Must be outgoing, articulate, professional, and well-organized with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience with social media
• Junior, Senior or Graduate student, preferably someone needing college credit
• GPA: 3.0 or higher
• Must be proficient in Word or Keynote/Pages, PowerPoint and social media channels
such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and more
• Interest in social media, event planning, fundraising and media relations
• Passionate about making a difference and improving Tallahassee’s urban places
• Preferred skills: graphic design (Canva and/or Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) and/or audio editing (GarageBand or Adobe Audition)
