Marketing & Communications is a dynamic and progressive department that touches all aspects of our organizations. Team members maximize internal service standards to create deliverables and strategies that are critical to enterprise-wide growth. This department is a strong advocate for brand engagement, innovative thinking, technology integration, urgent communication, and collaboration among credit unions.
The successful Director, Communications candidate will be responsible for managing a process of proactive media relations with regional media markets; working with the communications manager, marketing staff and the VP of Marketing & Communications to develop and implement communications plans for the LSCU; managing the LSCU & Affiliates’ Cooperative Image Campaign; analyzing ongoing feedback regarding the success of the campaign; and managing content generation for marketing and communications channel to promote our value proposition to credit unions, the media, and the general public.
Description of Duties:
- Managing proactive media relations program to promote and protect the credit union brand image.
- Overseeing development and effective delivery of information to affiliated credit unions including publications, LSCU and affiliates websites, multimedia, and image campaign.
- Developing content for both communication channels and LEVERAGE product and service marketing.
- Managing the LSCU & Affiliates and LEVERAGE social media strategy to include Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, blogs, and other outlets.
- Coordinating video production that focuses on LSCU & Affiliates advocacy efforts, cooperative initiatives, product and service marketing, and CEO quarterly updates.
- Assisting with digital marketing & communications strategy to include SEM, SEO, Affiliate Marketing, and other tools used to drive business to the LSCU & Affiliates.
- Overseeing the LSCU & Affiliates Cooperative Image Campaign which includes the fundraising efforts to support media buying for the campaign.
- Developing news releases, arrange media interviews, and provide technical preparation for media appearances.
- Assisting with all communication related to Annual Convention & Exposition, Leadership Development Conference, and any other signature events.
- Providing direction and assistance to all areas of LSCU & Affiliates related to external communications.
- Functioning as media spokesperson for the LSCU when President/CEO is unavailable.
- Representing LSCU at chapter and credit union events as well as Education & Training signature events.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess, at a minimum, the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field preferred.
- At least five (5) years of practical experience in communications/marketing fields.
- Knowledge of media operations, marketing and advertising with the ability to generate and implement related strategic plans.
- Experience developing, implementing and managing business plans and budgets.
- Prior supervisory experience and the ability to delegate to and manage others remotely.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers in a work-team environment.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize and effectively complete many multi-faceted, complex projects with conflicting deadlines while staying within budgetary constraints.
- Ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Office environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as Adobe products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including effective public speaking and ability to present ideas in a clear, concise manner.
- Basic knowledge of multimedia such as audio/video editing, audio/video recording and the ability to conduct interviews.
- Prior supervisory experience and the ability to delegate to and manage others remotely.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers in a work-team environment.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize and effectively complete many multi-faceted, complex projects with conflicting deadlines while staying within budgetary constraints.
- Knowledge and understanding of history, development, and philosophy of credit union movement.
This role will involve frequent travel within Florida and Alabama; therefore a valid driver’s license is required.
