Description
The Department is seeking a motivated professional to serve as a Communications Coordinator. The Communications Coordinator is essential to providing support and leadership in a variety of Division projects and activities and will coordinate all components of health education and communication for the state group insurance program. This is not a telework position. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality, accuracy, and adherence to timeframes. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Communications Management:
Coordinates, conducts and/or participates in focus groups with various stakeholders to identify education opportunities. Recommends strategies to improve member participation and education. Develops a variety of media to educate stakeholders, such as letters, website content, brochures, pamphlets, videos, guides, FAQs, talking points, presentations, podcasts, etc. Prepares white papers, talking points, presentations, the monthly e-newsletter – The Wellness Wire, etc. Works with the DMS Communications Office to develop publications and toolkits that meet identified goals and objectives.
Uses plain language, extrapolating key points from difficult, sometimes legal texts and writing using sentence structure and vocabulary the intended audience can understand. Proofreads and edits documents to ensure accuracy of content; correct grammar, spelling and punctuation; and compliance with the Department’s style guide.
Provides input to improve language in documents and websites. Maintains final publications in organized, electronic and/or hard copy library. Establishes, maintains and revises standard operating procedures as needed.
Strategic Planning:
Develops surveys and methodologies. Develops strategic short and long-term education and communication plans that identify: critical changes to the program; knowledge gaps; intended audience; objectives; required resources; media to be used; measures to determine level of success.
Prioritizes and organizes assignments. Establish and meeting deadlines. Completes assignments accurately. Assists with the development of short-, intermediate- and long-range planning related to Division’s mission. Attends training programs and researches benefits-related literature to enhance professional knowledge.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in English, health policy, communications, marketing, advertising, public administration, or a related field. Professional experience relevant to this position can substitute on a year for year basis for the required education.
A minimum of two years of experience in communications, marketing, information technology, or related field.
Professional and demonstrable experience working with e-learning software, e.g., Storyline Articulate, Adobe Creative Suite.
