Communications Coordinator

Description

This position is full immersion into the many facets of communications – from writing, web content, marketing, graphic design, social media, events and earned media. The Florida Association of Counties works with Florida’s 67 counties and the public servants that support them: providing them with research, information, education, and advocacy.

Basic Function: Assists in the design and management of a communications program to inform member counties about the services and activities of the Association (to include a review of methods of communication, image and branding, publications, and website). Helps develop strategies for enhancing the participation of members.

GENERAL:
1. Coordinates content and production of publications
2. Manages the website always keeping it updated and current
3. Implement communication plan on special projects including membership and external publications, and website applications
4. Works with Database Assistant to manage lists in Constant Contact
5. Serves as secondary spokesperson for the association
6. Coordinates with county public information officers to mobilize press at local level
7. Promotes public awareness of county issues
8. Prepares press releases/media packets
9. Manages social media
10. Develops a social media calendar with planned and scheduled updates for all FAC (Florida Association of Counties) divisions
11. Serves as in house photographer for FAC events
12. Coordinates Executive headshots, to include staff and Executive Committee members

Qualifications

PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
As determined by Executive Director
One to three years of experience recommended

EDUCATION
As determined by Executive Director
Associates Degree or higher preferred

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products
High level of interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong CMS and AMS knowledge preferred
