Description
The Florida Office of Film and Entertainment attracts and promotes film, television and digital media production in Florida and is housed within the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. The Communications Coordinator provides administrative support and assists with marketing the state as a world-class production center.
Position is OPS, and offers health insurance. Salary range is $15-17 dollars an hour.
Reports to: State Film Commissioner
Responsibilities:
Advertising/Outreach
• Work with agency communications staff to create ad campaigns, and other creative works/materials
• Propose and negotiate cost with media sales representatives for advertising placements
• Write promotional and collateral copy
• Write and compare vendor bids for promotional item purchases
• Work with industry organizations and festivals regarding sponsorship and outreach
Communication
• Coordinate and respond to communication related requests (ie, incoming letters, general phone calls, press, etc.)
• Maintain social media, including Facebook and Twitter
Website
• Maintain website www.filminflorida.com using Word Press
• Maintain public calendar
Procurement and Budget
• Assist with developing fiscal year plan and budget for sponsorships, travel, and advertising
• Compose and process requisitions and invoices for all purchasing, subscriptions and sponsorships
• Process office and Advisory Council travel and requests
• Verify and reconcile invoices using MyFloridaMarketPlace
Administrative
• Answer phones, handle correspondence and filing
• Liaison for the Advisory Council: communicate with members regarding upcoming meetings, minutes and agenda
• Work on special projects for the State Film Commissioner as needed
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in communications, marketing, business or IT
• At least 2 years prior experience in communications, web design, graphic design, social media management and marketing
• Strong writing, organizational and problem solving skills
• Working knowledge of Word Press
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff leadership and constituents
• Experience with MyFloridaMarketPlace preferred
