September Program Recap – ER for PR
The FPRA Capital Chapter was proud to host our annual ER for PR communications counseling event on Sept. 22 to assist local nonprofits with public relations. During this year’s event, representatives from seven local nonprofit organizations were paired with 13 public relations “medics” for a free counseling session to learn about the best communications tactics to support their organization’s mission and promote programs and upcoming events.
“The FPRA Capital Chapter looks forward to hosting ER for PR every year as a way to give back to the community,” said Holly Brooks, president of the FPRA Capital Chapter. “By sharing our knowledge and skills, we hope to enhance the PR profession in the Big Bend region and help these local nonprofits thrive.”
This year’s participating nonprofits included:
- Elder Care Services, Inc.
- Female Voices Early Intervention & Enhancement Program
- The Artist’s Workshop
- PFLAG Tallahassee
- Guardian ad Litem Foundation Second Circuit, Inc.
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend
- Big Bend AHEC
Representatives from these nonprofits, which do not have full-time public relations staff, received 90 minutes of counseling, and left equipped with a toolkit full of helpful information about drafting effective press materials, determining relevant media sources, and additional public relations tips.
The event is hosted annually by the FPRA Capital Chapter in the fall. This year’s event was generously sponsored by the Florida Health Care Association and MillCreek Financial Consultants.
