Changes at the Capital Chapter and a New Way to Learn About Our Programs
Building our chapter around you

You may have noticed some changes at the Capital Chapter recently. Your board spent the fall asking members and prospective members what they want from their chapter. Thank you for taking time to complete the survey, participate in a phone interview or share your needs with us in conversation. We are using that feedback to build our programs.

Our research revealed that some of our members can only meet in the morning or during their lunch hour, so we want to make sure we are offering programs during both time periods. This year, our meeting times will vary. Some will include lunch, and others will be breakfast meetings. (Occasionally, we may even have a networking event for the night owls among us!) We will also rotate venues to see which ones work best for our members.

You also told us when it comes to programs, you prefer quality over quantity. Our program team is using the list of topics you expressed an interest in to develop a strong line up of speakers, interactive workshops and professional development events. We won’t be following the traditional meeting schedule or format anymore.

We are also enhancing the way we keep in touch with you. Some members prefer to receive information via text, so this week we are launching our new PReminders. You can opt in to receive text updates from the Capital Chapter by texting “FPRA” to 38470. (Standard data rates apply.)

We are excited about this Thursday’s program, Political Communications – The New Norm. It will include a strong panel of nationally recognized political pros you saw on TV analyzing the election. They will delve into communications and messaging strategies and tactics used by the campaigns. Join Republicans Rick Wilson and David Johnson, and Democrats Steven Schale and Kevin Cate as they discuss lessons learned and what to expect during future campaigns. We are grateful to Christina Johnson of On3 Public Relations for organizing and moderating this excellent panel. We will see you Thursday morning at the Aloft Hotel. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 and the panel begins at 8:00.

Please continue to share your feedback with us. You can contact me directly at [email protected] or 407.592.7755. Thank you for being a member of FPRA!
