Tallahassee PR Pros Recognized for Outstanding Accomplishments in 2014
TALLAHASSEE, FL — Several of Tallahassee’s top public relations professionals were today honored on for their outstanding work and accomplishments over the past 12 months. The Image Awards, a red carpet event, is presented annually by the Capital Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association to encourage and promote the development of public relations professionalism in the Big Bend.
“The Image Awards recognize Tallahassee’s best public relations programs and honor the top PR professionals in our community,” said Jan Dobson, FPRA Capital Chapter president. “The entry process is rigorous. Orlando PR judges selected the winning entries as those meeting the highest standard of research, execution, results and budget measurement.”
The Grand All Image Award – the highest award available through the Image Awards program – went to Salter>Mitchell and The International Rhino Foundation for launching Team Rhino, “a massive effort to globalize support for rhino conservation from the grassroots up.” To increase the involvement of millennials, the firm developed a successful digital marketing campaign that drove diverse, widespread support for anti-poaching efforts.
The chapter’s most prestigious honor, the Stanley Tait Award for Professional Service, was presented to Christina Johnson, president & CEO of On3 Public Relations, a certified woman-owned firm she has run since 2008. The award celebrates the spirit, professionalism and leadership of the late Stan Tait, a Tallahassean, award-winning PR counselor and mentor to many chapter members.
An FPRA member since 2007, Johnson has served in numerous leadership positions for the Chapter over several years and in 2009-2010 was recognized as Chapter Member of the Year. Johnson‘s firm is credited with providing invaluable strategic advice to the Florida restaurant and lodging industry during the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. Other projects include the $1.2 billion Central Florida Partnership/Sunrail and the SafeBeat Initiative, a $1 million campaign to provide free EKG heart screenings for public high school students in Hillsborough County. According to her nominator, Johnson’s “experience and knowledge of Florida’s political landscape and the example she sets for female entrepreneurs and public relations professionals is invaluable… she is a great mentor and someone who sets a wonderful example for others.”
