Join the Capital Chapter’s Leadership Team!

Strengthen your leadership skills, grow your professional network and have fun by volunteering for an FPRA leadership position. The Capital Chapter is looking for members who would be willing to serve in a leadership capacity during the 2015-2016 board year. The following positions are available:

The President-elect serves as the immediate back-up for the President of the Chapter and is responsible for performing any and all presidential duties if the President is unable to do so.

The Secretary is responsible for recording minutes at all meetings of the chapter and board of directors and executing all orders, votes and resolutions not otherwise committed. The secretary shall also be responsible for maintaining historical information about the chapter.

The Treasurer is responsible for the Chapter’s finances and financial records, as well as overseeing any transactions during the Board year.

The Director of Programming guides and facilities professional development opportunities in the Chapter and oversees the following committees:

  • Monthly Luncheons (approximately 10 per year)
  • Professional Development (Larger half-day seminars with high-profile speakers.)
  • Pro-X Events (Smaller events exclusively for members on topics outside of traditional professional development opportunities.)

The Director of Membership is responsible for recruiting and retaining members and oversees the following committees:

  • Student Liaison (Works with the Student FPRA Chapter and oversees the scholarship opportunities for students)
  • Diversity (works closely with Programming to identify ways to highlight professional development opportunities)
  • Member Socials (plans 2-3 social events for members each year)
  • Senior Member Development (Responsible for coordinating events for senior members and engaging members in Chapter events.)

The Director of Awards and Professional Recognition facilitates professional and FPRA recognition and oversees the following committees:

  • Image Awards (coordinates the local Image Awards competition and awards ceremony)
  • Professional Recognition (coordinates the Chapter’s participation in any awards processes hosted by the State Association or other noteworthy awards and recognition)
  • Community Service (ER for PR, etc.)

The Director of Accreditation and Certification facilitates Capital chapter members in attaining their accreditation in public relations and certified public relations counselor certifications.

The Director of Development works with other members of the board to plan and execute fundraising opportunities for the chapter and oversees the following committees:

  • Sponsorships (identifies and secures sponsors for Chapter events and initiatives)
  • Scholarships (works closely with the Student Liaison)
  • Signature Event (coordinates Chapter’s annual signature event)

The Director of Communication works with the board of directors to disperse information to members, potential new members, the community and media outlets concerning chapter activities and oversees the following committees:

  • PRiority Editor (responsible for compiling, editing and distributing the Chapter’s monthly e- newsletter)
  • Social Media (Manages and maintains the Capital Chapter’s social media accounts)
  • Publicity (Works to position the Capitol Chapter positively in the community)
  • Website & Technology (Manages and maintains the Capital Chapter’s website)
