FPRA To Offer Free Public Relations Counseling

Florida Public Relations Association’s Capital Chapter Hosts Annual ER for PR Next Month

The Capital Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) announces the return of its annual “ER for PR” public relations counseling event for small businesses and nonprofits in the Big Bend area. Organizations that are interested in learning how public relations tactics can enhance efforts to meet their financial and service-oriented goals are encouraged to submit an application.

The morning portion of this event will be free to those nonprofit and small business representatives who submit an application and are chosen to participate by the Chapter. The afternoon portion, which starts with a lunch, will be $50 for nonprofits and $65 for small businesses. The tentative schedule for this year’s ER for PR, scheduled for August 23, 2012, is as follows:

9:30 – 9:45 a.m.        Welcome

9:45 – 10:30 a.m.      PR 101 Presentation

10:30 -11:30 a.m.     One-on-One Counseling Sessions

12:00 – 1:00 p.m.      Lunch, live media auction, Communicator of the Year Award

1:00 – 2:00 p.m.        Media Panel – Topic: What’s newsworthy and best tips for pitching

2:00 – 3:00 p.m.        Social Media Workshop – Topic: Beyond the basics of social media

The Capital Chapter of FPRA, Florida’s oldest and largest chapter, represents nearly every industry in the area, including government, associations, non-profits, education, healthcare, legal, corporate, retail,and small business.  In addition to the Image Awards, the chapter holds annual events that support the Tallahassee area, including its annual “ER for PR” public relations counseling workshop.
