FPRA Capital Chapter Takes Off with Delta’s Social Media Team

Delta’s social media manger, Rachael Rensink shared her team’s best practices at the Florida Public Relation Association’s Capital Chapter January membership luncheon.  Through her experiences with Delta, Rachael has navigated with her team the “wild west” that is social media.  Delta’s focus is three fold on marketing, corporate and reservations has been highly successful on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and in the blogosphere.

Citing several examples, Rachael showed Capital Chapter members how social media can be utilized for crisis communication and planning. In the case of the military baggage issue, the Delta social media team was able to move quickly to address and deflect a major PR crisis. And their quick responses and constant availability during the hurricane in New York got them a lot of positive press.

Rachae’s tips for your social media efforts to really take off:

  • Offering service solutions;
  • Deeper brand engagement;
  • Creating a crisis plan and strategy; and
  • Strong analytics and reporting.
