2010-2011 President Ivette Marqeus Faulkner opened the August FPRA member luncheon with warm words of gratitude and appreciation for all the hard work of the Capital Chapter’s 2010-2011 Board of Directors and for the dedication of its members. She also recognized the bright stars of the 2010-2011 year, presenting Nate Long as Member of the Year, Lynne Adams Takacs as New Member of the Year and Lauren Novo as the President’s Award recipient.

FPRA’s 2011-2012 state association President Melanie Mowry Etters also gave an uplifting speech about the encouraging new possibilities for FPRA and the Capital Chapter for the coming year.  Ms. Etters presented her theme for the 2011-2011 year as “Discovering the Treasure of FPRA.”  She reminded the Capital Chapter members present that membership provides the “golden key to success,” offering:

– Professional development opportunities
– Mentorship opportunities and expertise
– Learning opportunities in PR, communications and emerging technologies
– Networking opportunities

Ms. Etters also expressed some personal goals for the coming year, including calling all new members to make them feel appreciated and special; recognizing board members with special mementoes; and utilizing social media as a way to connect members to FPRA and herself.

The meeting then proceeded with the induction of the Capital Chapter’s 2011-2012 board.  2011-2012 President Amanda Fliger concluded the August meeting with positive goals laid out for the Capital Chapter’s immediate future. “We come together to socialize and network as only PR professionals can,” Ms. Fliger said. “I look forward to setting the pace for continued excellence.”
