2016 ER for PR/May Meeting

  • Location: Capital City Country Club

The Florida Public Relations Association’s Capital Chapter is gearing up for this year’s ER for PR.  It’s an opportunity for nonprofits without full-time public relations staff to receive 90 minutes of counseling free of charge and benefit from additional breakout sessions. This year’s event will be on Thursday, May 19 at the Capital City Country Club.

Program schedule:

9 – 10:30 a.m.  Individual Counseling Sessions 

Nonprofit organizations selected for this event will receive one-on-one pro bono counseling from FPRA Capital Chapter practitioners.

10:30 – 10:45 a.m.  Break 

10:45 – 11:30 a.m.  Concurrent Breakout Sessions

1) Grant Writing

Learn best practices in the area of grant writing for nonprofits.

OR

2) Working with the Media

This is your opportunity to meet reporters from local media outlets. They will share their insights on how nonprofits can build strong relationships with the media and tactics to gain positive coverage for your organization.

Note: ER for PR activities from 9 – 11:30 a.m. are free of charge for participating nonprofit organizations.  There is a small fee for nonprofits wishing to attend the luncheon with a keynote speaker immediately following the morning program.

Public Interest Communications to Create Positive Social Change

Ann Christiano is the Frank and Betsy Karel Endowed Chair in Public Interest Communication and Professor of Public Relations at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. She will speak on public interest communications to create positive social change, a field dedicated to using strategic communications to drive change, working in such areas as health, human rights, environment and poverty. She was named the 2014-15 University of Florida Teacher of the Year.
